Annual Indian Matrimonial and Dating site review for 2011

Top Indian Matrimonial and Dating Sites of 2011

It's that time of year again to look at what is happening in the Indian Matrimonial and Dating world. We have been monitoring changes in the market
for the past several years and below is our observations and recommendations for this year.

The New

There have been many attempts to create free indian dating and matrimonial websites in the past 5 years.

Unfortunately almost all have been abandoned by their operators. Links start to fail and the sites are overcome with scammers. Well it's not all doom and gloom for those who don't wish to or can't afford to signup to the major matrimonial companys. Let me introduce you to a new site: www.imarriages.com.

I first saw this site a few years ago and although it was free then, as it is now, it wasn't pretty. That was a few years ago. Recently I noticed it was moving up the google search results ladder and decided to investigate. To my surprise, the entire site has been redesigned. Gone is the slow, ugly, almost text only design. Here now is a fast, beautiful and easy to navigate site.
Sign up and create your profile. Your profile will then be reviewed by a human within 24 hours. If accepted your profile will then be viewable by others and you will be able to make contact with other members. Additionally there are features that you only expect to get from a paid site: block lists for those annoying people, favorites lists, friends lists, match making services, relationship advice and many fun applications. And unlike all the other free sites I have reviewed, this one isn't covered in pop ups and advertising.

Pros: Free, refreshing design, fast, supports both dating and matrimonials.

Cons: Fewer members compared to shaadi, bharat & jeevan.

The Old

The usual market leaders are still there: www.shaadi.com, www.bharatmatrimony.com and www.jeevansathi.com. These guys are pretty much all the same except for the varying prices that they charge for their services. Sign up, create a profile and receive 'matches' in your email. If you want to make contact with any of those 'matches' then you will need to pay.

Pros: Established

Cons: Expensive, same old, matrimonials only. Sometimes slow.

Summary

I am not in the business of bad mouthing sites so I won't mention them by name however almost all sites are terrible. There are far too many companys creating bad sites and I blame this on 'Shaadi' clone software and other 'build your own dating site' packages being circulated. In my opinion, 2011 will see 70% of these bad sites disappear and in my 2012 I expect to report a much cleaner, clearer dating market. In summary, if you don't want to spend any money, www.imarria ges.com is the site to join. If don't mind spending money, try www.imarriages.com first, then try one of the old 3.

That's it until next year.

ps. am only allowed to provide 3 links so I linked the new site. I'm pretty sure everyone knows the url to the other 3 already.
